Replacement wheels with flattened tires for a model of the B-29 Superfortress bomber in the early production pattern, 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B-29 Superfortress is an American four-engined heavy bomber from the end of the Second World War. For its day it was an exceptionally advanced machine with pressurized compartments for the crew and remotely controlled defensive armament, used above all in the Pacific. Early production machines differed from later ones in a number of particulars, and the differences take in the landing gear as well.
The set brings replacement wheels for a model of the B-29 in 1:72, made with tires flattened where they bear on the ground. They go on in place of the parts from the kit wherever the tread pattern should be sharper and the transition from the carcass into the hub cleaner. The flattening gives a heavy machine its proper weight on a finished model, because the viewer watches its wheels at eye level.
Cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. The seating matters most: the flattened face has to point toward the ground and the wheel has to stand upright, or the model will visibly fail to sit on the surface. Do the dry fit on a flat board, therefore, and only then fix the joint. A flat dark gray shade suits the carcass, and the hub is painted separately while the parts are still loose.
This is an add-on set for building a model. The paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
