Cockpit masks for the Sea Harrier FA.2 in 1:72 scale help to separate the clear areas of the canopy from the rest of the finish of the naval fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory is aimed at modelers building the carrier version of the Royal Navy vertical takeoff fighter. The shapes of the covers follow the raised bubble canopy of this type, which differs noticeably from the land-based variant in profile and in how high the pilot sits.
The FA.2 came about through a deep rebuild of the earlier FRS.1 variant. In a strengthened nose it received the Blue Vixen pulse-Doppler radar, which moved the machine into a different performance class and opened up the use of medium-range air-to-air missiles. The aircraft served from the middle of the 1990s, among other places over the Balkans, and left the inventory in 2006. The characteristic marks are the enlarged, slightly blunt nose and the raised cockpit with a good view to the rear.
Before laying the covers on, free the clear parts of fingerprints and dust; a bath in clean lukewarm water and drying without wiping has proved itself. After laying them on, press the edges down carefully with a wooden toothpick so that paint does not run under them. Spray in several passes and let it air out between coats. Lay the inner shade of the pilot's compartment on first. After taking the covers off, look the edges over against the light; a little bleed can be carefully scraped away with the point of a toothpick moistened in water.
