A masking set for the glazing of the Soviet Beriev Be-6 amphibian in 1:72 scale. The film is cut for the Trumpeter kit and is applied to the outside of the parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Beriev Be-6 entered service with the Soviet Navy at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s and for many years became the main machine for long-range reconnaissance and anti-submarine work. You will know it by the wing cranked into a gull shape, which holds the engines high above the water, and by its twin vertical tail surfaces. The fuselage is a boat in the true sense of the word, so the aircraft took off from and landed on water. Western military handbooks gave it the reporting name Madge. Glazed observation positions were part of the equipment, thanks to which the model has a surprising number of clear parts.
It is the extent of the glazing that makes the Be-6 a candidate where ready-made masks pay off most. Preparing them by hand would mean dozens of strips, and with every one of them the risk that the width would drift.
First degrease the parts and let them dry. Then apply the segments of the pilots' cockpit, go on with the observation positions and finally add the small windows. Choose the paint thin and apply it in several passes. Once it has dried, lift the film off, starting with the largest panel and working toward the small ones. The package holds only masking material; the flying boat itself is sold separately and the same goes for the paints.
