The Beechcraft 1900 is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft derived from the King Air family, intended for regional routes and for what is known as short-haul transport. The 1900D version, the most widespread form of the series, received a raised fuselage with a cabin in which it is possible to stand upright, larger windows and prominent aerodynamic surfaces: a pair of small horizontal plates on the nose and others on the rear fuselage, together with endplates on the elevator. It is precisely these elements that give the aircraft an immediately recognizable silhouette. The cabin takes about nineteen passengers, which places the type in the category of machines that can be operated without a flight attendant. The machines serve with regional carriers all over the world, and also with charter firms, state bodies and in freighter conversion; a number of them also fly in military and government service.
An airliner means a great many smooth surfaces, so thorough filling and sanding of the fuselage seams and a subsequent coat of primer pay off, as every imperfection shows under a gloss finish. Mask the cabin glazing before spraying, ideally with strips of masking tape or with cut masks. Spray white and light shades with an airbrush in thin coats over a light base. Paint the undercarriage bays and the propeller blades separately. Apply the decals, of which airliners tend to have many, onto a gloss finish and with the help of a decal softener, so that they settle onto the rounded fuselage without silvering.
