A resin accessory set for the 1:72 Spitfire Mk.IX model is an aftermarket accessory to a kit, not an aircraft model. It follows a period modification in which the machines carried barrels under their wings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item is an accessory to a Spitfire Mk.IX model in 1:72 scale, not an aircraft kit in its own right. The parts are cast in resin, a poured material that, unlike injected plastic, takes finer and more broken-up shapes. They are made by the Czech company Brengun.
In the summer of 1944 an improvised modification appeared on machines operating from field airfields in France, in which barrels were hung under the wings in place of the usual load. It was a field solution adopted by the units rather than factory equipment, so the arrangement differed from machine to machine. On a model it is a conspicuous and easily recognized feature that turns an ordinary fighter into a piece with a story. Always check a period photograph of the particular machine you are building, though, so that the arrangement matches.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with a little dish soap so that any mold release residue is removed, otherwise neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; never break them, as resin is brittle. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, because resin sanding dust is harmful to health. It is bonded exclusively with super glue, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
