An injection-molded plastic kit of the Bf 109G-6 in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker AZ model. The boxing is aimed at machines operated by the air forces of the countries of south-eastern Europe, which received Bf 109s from German production. AZ model has devoted itself to these less usual operators for a long time, and further similarly oriented releases are made as well.
The Bf 109G-6 was the most numerously produced version of the whole G series. Its identifying features are the pronounced fairings on the upper side of the front fuselage, which the large-caliber machine guns housed above the engine called for; modelers call them the bumps. The power came from a liquid-cooled, supercharged Daimler-Benz 605 series engine with an inverted V12 cylinder layout. The G-6 version appeared in service in many forms, from machines with a short vertical tail and a mast antenna to later machines with a tall fin and a modified canopy. Besides the Luftwaffe it was operated by a number of other states.
Before building, check against the decal sheet which parts belong to the machine you have chosen, because on the G-6 version individual airframes differ in the fin, the canopy and the fairings on the cowling. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Mottled camouflage on the sides of the fuselage is sprayed at low pressure from a distance, or over a rope of masking putty. Spray a gloss clear coat under the decals and a matte one at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
