1:72 Bf 110C/D exhaust

Bf 110C/D Exhausts 1:72 (Quickboost)

This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings faithfully cast exhaust stubs for a model of the German twin-engine Messerschmitt Bf 110 heavy fighter in the C and D versions in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the solid plastic exhausts with a casting of finer shape and suggested openings. Both engine nacelles thus look more realistic and take exhaust staining more easily.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a German twin-engine heavy fighter (Zerstörer) used from the beginning of the Second World War. The early C and D versions were powered by Daimler-Benz inverted V12 engines and the aircraft flew as an escort fighter and as a fighter-bomber; the D version was adapted for greater range.

Tips for working with resin

First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Test the fit dry before painting, as resin may need a little cleaning up.

Who the set is for

• More experienced modelers who want to raise the accuracy of their model
• Builders for whom the exhausts from the plastic kit are not enough
• Anyone interested in working with resin and fine castings
• Collectors building models for contests and display cases

The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
