This is an accessory set, not an aircraft kit. Its subject is the radio operator's station on the Boeing B-17G in 1:72 scale, that is, a part of the fuselage that plastic kits usually handle only in broad outline. The set suits modelers who want the interior behind the cockpit worked out as well. The set is developed for the Airfix kit, so check in advance which one you have at home.
The Boeing B-17G was the most numerous version of the four-engined Flying Fortress bomber, with Wright Cyclone radial engines fitted with turbochargers. The fuselage was long and divided up into the stations of the individual crew members; the radio operator's station lay in the middle section behind the bomb bay and was lit by windows at the sides and above. That is exactly why it can be seen on a model with a little effort and is worth some attention, above all on a build with the openings left clear.
The parts may be resin or plastic, so match the procedure to the material of the parts in the package. Wash resin castings in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a disc and level the surface with a file; sand wet and with respiratory protection. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), plastic with ordinary modeling cement. Fit and paint everything before the fuselage is glued together and keep dry-fitting the halves; thin the walls down from the inside as needed. Spray the interior with a primer and the base color, add a dark wash in the corners and bring out the edges of the equipment with a dry brush. Finish the small instruments and the cables with a brush, and think about where the light will reach inside, so that the work does not vanish into the dark.
