This accessory set from the Clear Prop Models brand replaces the wheels supplied in a kit of the Ukrainian eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier. The package contains the wheels alone, not the vehicle, so obtain a base model of the same scale to go with them. And it is the wheels that are among the elements a viewer notices first on an armored car.
In kits the wheels tend to be split because of the mold, and visible parting seams are left on the tread and on the sidewall. The replacement set is cast in one piece, so lengthy leveling falls away and there is less risk of damaging a laboriously made surface while sanding. The transition between the tire and the hub, which on split parts often merges together, also reads more faithfully.
First clear the parts of the remains of casting and wash them in lukewarm soapy water, so that nothing is left on the surface to hinder the adhesion of the paint. Use cyanoacrylate glue in a small quantity to attach them. Painting is easier before they are fitted to the model; separate the hub and the tire with a circular mask or by careful brushwork. Suggest dust on the sides with a dry pigment only once the running gear is assembled.
