This is a supplementary resin set, not an aircraft model. It is intended to replace the engine nacelles on a model of the four-engined transport aircraft C-130 Hercules in the E and H versions in 1:72 scale. On large transport machines the engines are among the most conspicuous features, because there are four of them and the viewer always has them in sight. Resin castings make it possible to capture the shape of the cowlings, the air intakes and the exhaust mouths more accurately, which with injection-molded plastic runs into the limits of the mold. The target kit is Italeri.
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is a four-engined turboprop transport aircraft that has served since the 1950s and is among the longest-produced machines of its kind. A high-mounted wing, a cargo ramp at the rear and landing gear adapted for operation from unpaved surfaces made it a universal machine for supply, airdrops and humanitarian flights. The E and H versions make up the classic generation, which spread to dozens of countries and a number of them are still flying today.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water because of mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the area wet with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Try the fit dry first; with larger resin parts it pays to check that all four nacelles are in line with one another, otherwise the model will look asymmetrical seen from the front. Use a primer before painting. Bring out the exhaust mouths with a dark shade and a fine sooting toward the rear.
This is a supplementary set, not a complete kit. The Italeri base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
