A decal sheet in 1:72 scale with markings for C-47 machines of the US Air Force from the time of the Berlin Airlift. The second part of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain is the military form of the airliner DC-3, a twin-engine low-wing monoplane with radial piston engines and wide cargo doors. When the Soviet administration closed the land routes into the western sectors of Berlin in 1948, the air remained the only link and it was exactly these machines that took part in the supply effort. They flew day and night along fixed corridors and with short intervals between landings; later larger four-engine aircraft relieved them of the bulk of the traffic. The Berlin Airlift ended in the spring of 1949 and is among the best known employments of the type at all.
Water-slide decals in 1:72 scale with markings for C-47 machines of the US Air Force from this period. The sheet supplements or replaces the markings enclosed with a kit.
The surface has to be smooth and glossy. Cut the feature out as closely as possible, soak it and let it rest for a while, until it starts to slide freely on the paper. Move it into place along with a little water underneath, line it up and blot the excess water away with a soft cloth from the center to the edges. Over riveting and curved transitions a decal softener helps. Once dry, spray the model with varnish to the degree of sheen you want.
For modelers interested in the postwar employment of transport aircraft who want to build a model in a form of period interest. The kit, paints, varnish and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
