In the seventy-second an accessory like this makes even more sense than in the larger scales: the smaller the scale, the worse a mold fills the thin fins and the more marked is the ratio of the mold seam line to the whole area of the part. A resin missile is in one piece, it keeps its edges sharp and the difference can be seen with the naked eye, because on a helicopter model the stores are always in the foreground.

The real subject

The CATM-114 is the training version of the AGM-114 series missile. It stays on the launch rail and is not fired; it serves to train crews and to check the attachment. The shape matches a live missile, and the difference lies mainly in the contents and the markings. Missiles of the AGM-114 series appear on attack helicopters with rail launchers, so the set suits the building of a training variant of a model, where live ordnance would be out of place.

Tips for working with resin

The parts in 1:72 are so small that the main enemy is your own hand. Work with tweezers with rounded jaws, always over a light surface or over a tray, so that a piece that breaks off can be found. After washing the mold release agent off and cleaning up wet, I recommend sticking the parts on a wooden skewer and spraying the base on before gluing, as a brush will no longer reach them on a finished model. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle.
