A combined package of accessories for the four-engined Consolidated B-24J Liberator bomber in 1:72 scale for the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was built in greater numbers than any other American combat aircraft of the war. Its performance was due to the slender Davis wing with a high ratio of span to chord, which brought the range the Flying Fortress lacked. The J version unified production from five plants and received a powered gun turret in the nose, which closed the most vulnerable place of the machine. Liberators took off in it over Ploiesti, over Germany and over the Pacific Ocean, where the long routes over water were appreciated.
A combined package brings together several separately sold sets into one whole. With a large bomber the scope is considerable, because the individual sets cover various areas of the airframe from the cabin and the bomb bay to the undercarriage and the glazing. Masking films for the numerous windows and turrets tend to be included as well.
With a model as large as this it pays to divide the work by subassemblies and to fit the photo-etched parts as you go, not only at the end. Let the paint cure properly before applying the masks. It is practical to paint the small parts while still on the fret and to cut them off only just before gluing.
It aims at more experienced builders who want to take a large model into detail without hunting down the individual sets. The seventy-second scale on a four-engined machine means a span of over forty centimeters, so a display case has to have a corresponding depth. The kit itself is sold separately.
