Covered main landing gear for the Mil Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters in 1:72 scale from IBG models. An addition for modelers who want a more accurate shape of the gear legs.

Replacement parts deal with one place where a plastic molding is necessarily simplified. IBG models offers the main landing gear with covers for the Mil Mi-8 and Mi-17 in 1:72 scale as a separate upgrade set.
The Mi-8 first flew in the early 1960s and became one of the most widespread helicopters of all. A roomy cabin, a five-blade main rotor and exceptional toughness found it work from carrying troops to fighting fires. The Mi-17 is the export designation of a later variant with more powerful engines and a relocated tail rotor, which even a layman can tell apart by the small differences on the tail boom.
First separate the fine components carefully from the carrier frame and check that they fit the openings in the fuselage. It is enough to go lightly over the surface with a very fine paper and to lay on a primer, which will reveal any unevenness. Secure the joints with a drop of thin super glue.
Compare the shape of the gear legs against a photograph of the version you are building, because machines from different periods differ in exactly this place. The covers were also often removed in service, so a model without them need not be wrong; it simply captures a different moment on the apron.
