The second part of the AML decal line devoted to the Curtiss Hawk in the H-75A-1 version, 1:72 scale. The package holds a printed sheet of water-slide decals with which you finish a built model. Neither plastic parts nor a kit are included; the first part of the line is a separate item.
The Hawk H-75A-1 was the export form of the American monoplane fighter, delivered to France even before war broke out in Europe. It combined a radial engine, retractable landing gear and surprisingly good agility, thanks to which it did better over France than its performance figures suggested. The fate of individual machines was varied: after 1940 they passed into the hands of other operators and flew in several theaters in different camouflage. For a modeler it is a type where it pays to choose the markings according to a particular stage of service.
Finish the model with a gloss coat, and only then transfer the markings. Dip the decals in warm water one at a time, lay them on a dampened area and nudge them with a brush while they still move. Draw the surplus water off and let the film settle without further interference. Over engraving a softener helps. A final matte overcoat evens the sheen out and hides the edges of the film even after it has dried.
