About product

Daimler-Benz DB 603 engine 1:72 - Aires

A resin detail set from Aires in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model but a faithfully rendered German Daimler-Benz DB 603 aero engine, made for adding to a plastic kit and showing the powerplant exposed. The set is meant for experienced modelers.

The real subject

The Daimler-Benz DB 603 was a German liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine used on a number of German aircraft of the Second World War. It was a powerful engine derived from the older DB line. A detailed casting lets you build a model with the panels opened up and the powerplant on view.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and sand with your airways protected. Bond the resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the engine in the base metallic shades, bring the recesses out with a wash and the edges with a dry brush; adding plumbing and wiring deepens the effect considerably.

Who the accessory is for

  • For modelers who want an exposed engine on a model in 1:72 scale
  • For anyone interested in German aero engines of the Second World War
  • For experienced builders used to resin
  • For collectors of detail sets

This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled, without the target kit, glue or paints.
