A photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for a model of the Douglas A-4M Skyhawk carrier attack aircraft. It adds fine metal detail to a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is an American light carrier-based attack aircraft with a delta wing, which earned the nickname Scooter for its small size and low weight. The A-4M version was the last production variant of the family and can be recognized by its enlarged canopy. A small airframe and a densely filled cockpit mean that every extra detail shows on a model.
This is a set of photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for an A-4M model. Photo-etch is made by etching thin metal sheet, so the parts capture thin edges, gratings and flat details that would be disproportionately thick in injection-molded plastic. The extent of the fret and the kit the set is cut for are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Work on a hard surface and separate the parts with a cut of a sharp blade, not by snapping them off. Hold the small pieces with fine-tipped tweezers and keep a tray at hand so that they do not ping away. Make the bends along the marked score line; on long edges a bending tool helps. They are bonded with super glue applied with the tip of a piece of wire, not straight from the tube onto the part. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and use a thin primer, which markedly improves paint adhesion in 1:72 scale, where every heavy coat shows.
The set is for modelers with experience of fine work who want to take a small model all the way in detail. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
