Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Douglas TA-4J Skyhawk in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit or a spare part but an accessory for spraying the glazing and the frames. The extent of the package is stated on the box of the set.
The TA-4J is the two-seat training version of the Skyhawk. Against the single-seat forms it has a lengthened fuselage and, above all, markedly longer cockpit glazing, divided into several adjoining parts for the two seats one behind the other. That is the crucial difference for masking: instead of one short canopy there is a long assembly where every inaccuracy adds up and ends up visible as a crooked frame.
Work consistently from the nose backward and never skip a segment - every part lines up by the one before it. Stick the masks onto the fixed frames between the individual sections first; those set the spacing and the rest is filled in between them. Offer each mask up dry, check it against the engraved lines and only then press it home with a toothpick from the middle outward. Once the whole cockpit is masked, look at the model from the side: the frames should make a regular row, and if one is out of line, put it right before spraying. Lay the paint on thinly and take the masks off at a shallow angle before the finish has cured.
It is not a kit. The package holds only the masking set; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
