1:72 Arado Ar 240 exhausts, variant 1, a 3D-printed accessory (77propeller)

This is not a kit but a 3D-printed resin accessory in 1:72 scale for models of the German Arado Ar 240 aircraft, in the variant 1 form. The set contains the exhaust parts of the engine nacelles with a faithfully rendered shape and open outlets, which plastic parts usually do not capture. The detail of the exhausts raises the realism of the front of the engines markedly.

The Revell kit serves as the basis; it is bought separately.

The real subject

The Arado Ar 240 was a German twin-engine multipurpose aircraft of the Second World War, tested as a heavy fighter as well as a reconnaissance aircraft. On twin-engine aircraft the exhausts are among the conspicuous and frequently photographed details.

Use and tips

• A replacement of the plastic exhausts with more detailed resin ones.
• Wash them, separate them from the 3D print supports and clean the edges up.
• They are bonded with super glue; darken the outlets and add burnt and rusty tones.
