A set of self-adhesive masking templates from Eduard in 1:72 scale for models of the General Dynamics F-111 combat aircraft. The masks are precisely cut from yellow masking (kabuki) tape and serve for clean masking of the cockpit glazing during painting.
The pre-formed shapes follow the canopy frames exactly, so a sharp boundary appears between frame and glazing with no overrun. Kabuki tape adheres well even on curved surfaces, paint does not creep under it and once the work is done it lifts off with no adhesive residue. Masking the glazing is therefore quick and accurate.
Lift the masks off the fret with tweezers and lay them down dry, pressing the edges well. The inner faces of the glazing can be painted in the interior color before the masks are applied. After spraying, remove the masks while the paint is still fresh.
The templates hold no paint or glue; this is an accessory for a separately sold plastic model.
