An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese brand Hasegawa. It captures the Grumman F-14A Tomcat carrier fighter in the variant with low-visibility, that is gray tactical markings. The package contains plastic sprues, a clear canopy part and a decal sheet. The wings of the model can be set at various sweep angles.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with variable-geometry wings. It served to defend the carrier group and carried, among other weapons, long-range guided missiles. The low-visibility gray finishes replaced the earlier bold color markings in order to make the aircraft harder to spot in the air.
Glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic and sand the gaps down. The low-visibility gray shades are best built up with an airbrush; subtle differences between the shades and picked-out panel lines give the model depth. Mask the clear canopy and paint it last. Decide before you start whether to leave the wings fixed or movable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
