A resin detail set from CMK for refining a model of the F-14A Tomcat in 1:72 scale. The set shows the port engine with the maintenance panel removed, so the model can be displayed with the powerplant realistically exposed. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The F-14A version was powered by a pair of jet engines placed in separate nacelles in the fuselage. An exposed engine with the covers open is a popular subject for maintenance scenes.
Wash the resin parts first in lukewarm water with detergent because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than breaking them. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and protect your airways when sanding. The details of the engine will come out after a wash and metallic shades are applied.
