Kelik 1:72 – the cockpit of the Grumman F-14B Tomcat in colored relief printing completes both the front and the rear seat of the carrier fighter. The equipment matches the kit from Great Wall Hobby.
Responsibility details are not available.
Kelik has prepared color-printed raised decals for the two-seat cockpit of the American carrier fighter. They are laid onto the finished interior parts and take the place of the fine drawing of the instrument panels, the side consoles and the harnesses. Because the same manufacturer offers equipment for the F-14B in the same ratio for several different kits at once, it is in order to make clear that this variant is cut for the Great Wall Hobby kit.
The F-14B version grew out of the original Tomcat by exchanging the powerplant for General Electric engines of the F110 series. The machine thereby gained appreciably better thrust and shed part of the trouble that had plagued the first production run. It flew from the decks of American aircraft carriers, performed air superiority tasks and later strikes against ground targets as well. The pair of seats one behind the other belonged to the pilot and to an officer who directed the engagement, which makes the cockpit a markedly broken-up space.
The inside is first finished and brought to a uniform shade, then the pieces are laid one by one. Tweezers with a fine tip and a little lukewarm water come in useful; a softener will help bridge the edges of the consoles. A matte clear coat at the end of the work will even out any remaining gloss.
