A collector's model of the F-14D Super Tomcat carrier fighter aircraft in 1:72 from the maker Easy Model. The model comes finished from the factory — assembled, painted and with the markings of the squadron VF-31 applied. It is not a kit: nothing is glued, sprayed or fine-tuned; the model only has to be unpacked and put in a display case.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, meant chiefly for the long-range defense of an aircraft carrier formation. The F-14D version was the last and most capable variant — it was given more powerful engines, digital avionics and a modernized radar. The squadron VF-31 was among the units that operated the F-14D right up to the very end of the type's service with the US Navy.
The model has the factory color scheme and markings applied, including the low-visibility gray shades typical of the late era of the type. The surface is best protected from direct sun, which gradually fades the colors and the decals. Dust is removed from the fine parts with a soft brush or with low-pressure compressed air; wet cleaning and solvents are not recommended, as they could damage the factory finish.
