A photo-etched accessory set in 1:72 scale for a model of the F-15C Eagle fighter. It completes the model with fine metal parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-15C Eagle is the single-seat configuration of the American fighter that came about in the 1970s with a single brief: to win superiority in air combat. You recognize it by its massive fuselage, its large wing area and its pair of vertical tails. It was exactly that large wing area that gave the aircraft a low wing loading and with it the turning agility that kept it in the front line for decades.
The set contains parts etched from thin metal sheet. Their advantage is in their thickness: where injection-molded plastic in 1:72 scale would look like a shapeless block, photo-etched parts give a genuinely thin edge. They are therefore used for grilles, flat stiffeners, instrument panels and similar details. The extent of the parts and their placement on the model are given in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the set.
The parts are held in the sheet by thin tabs, which are cut through with a sharp blade on a hard surface; breaking them out bends and deforms the parts. Make the bends along a ruler or in a bending tool so that the edge stays straight. Metal cannot be joined with solvent cement for plastic; super glue is used, applied in a minute amount with a pin or a piece of wire. Degrease the sheet before painting and go over it with a base color, otherwise the coat will chip at the first touch. Whether the parts are supplied painted can be seen from the manufacturer's instructions.
This is an accessory set for a model. The aircraft kit, paints, glue and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
