1:72 F-18E Hornet Cockpit is a resin accessory set from CMK that replaces the simplified cockpit from the kit on a model of the carrier aircraft. It is not a model of an aircraft. The set fits the Academy kit.

An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer CMK, cast in modeling resin, intended to be swapped in for the cockpit section of a plastic kit of the F/A-18E Super Hornet carrier aircraft in 1:72 scale. The package does not contain a model of the aircraft; it is a replacement for the interior space, which goes into a part-built fuselage. The exact makeup of the set, the number of parts and whether decals or photo-etched accessories are included are stated on the box and in the instructions. The manufacturer prepared it for the Academy kit.
On models in 1:72 scale the cockpit is seen through a narrow glazed canopy, but that is exactly where the viewer's attention settles. Cast resin manages finer surface detail, crisper panel edges and thinner walls than an injection mold allows. Sets of this type are usually cut for one particular kit, so before buying compare the shape of the parts with your own model and with its interior space; otherwise there is a risk that the set will not fit into the fuselage.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent comes off the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a new blade and sand the remainder down; protect your airways while sanding. Always dry-fit the cockpit tub in the fuselage first and, if necessary, shorten the sides or thin the walls of the plastic parts, so that the fuselage can be closed without pressure. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue, and use ordinary modeling cement on plastic. Paint over a primer and bring out the detail with a dark wash and a gentle dry brush; the instrument faces come to life well with a spot of gloss varnish, which imitates the glass of the dials.
The set is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
