Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The boxing is aimed at the B version of the F-35 Lightning II, that is, at the configuration for a short takeoff and a vertical landing, in the markings of a fighter attack squadron of the US Marine Corps. The B version differs from the land-based A version and from the carrier-based C version above all in its propulsion and in the shape of the upper fuselage, where the lift fan sits, so it is not interchangeable with them. The 1:72 scale gives a compact model that fits easily into a display case even next to larger types.
The F-35B Lightning II is a single-seat single-engine combat aircraft with features that reduce its observability. It differs from the other versions in being able to take off from a short strip and land vertically: the engine nozzle swivels downward and in front of it works a lift fan driven from the engine, which lets the aircraft operate from short surfaces and from the decks of ships without a catapult. It carries weapons both in internal bays in the fuselage and on pylons under the wing. With the US Marine Corps this version replaced older types with comparable abilities.
A model with reduced observability stands or falls with a smooth surface, so fill and sand the fuselage joints carefully, so that no visible groove is left outside the panel lines. Finish the cockpit and the nose gear bay before closing the fuselage up. Spray the gray shade with an airbrush in thin coats and handle the differing panels with a fine difference of tone, not with a sharp transition. Lay a gloss varnish under the decals, seal them once they have settled and finally even the surface out with a matte or satin varnish according to the scheme you have chosen. Mask the doors of the internal weapons bays and the glazing before you start spraying the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
