Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern fifth-generation fighter F-35A Lightning II in 1:72 scale from the maker Academy. The kit is distinguished by cleanly molded parts and finely engraved panel lines, which underline the angular stealth shape of the airframe. The package holds a detailed cockpit, a weapons bay, the landing gear, a pilot figure and complete external stores.
The F-35A Lightning II is the single-seat land-based variant of the American fifth-generation multirole fighter with an emphasis on reduced radar visibility. It combines a low-observable design, powerful sensors and the ability to carry weapons in internal bays so as to stay unseen. The type has become the backbone of the fighter forces of a number of allied states and is replacing older fourth-generation machines.
The kit has a manageable number of parts, so it is a fairly brisk build. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, mask the glazing of the cockpit, unify the base with primer and apply the paint with an airbrush. Typical of the F-35 is a gray low-visibility finish with finely differentiated panels: a restrained modulation of the shade and a very fine wash into the engraved lines come out better than pronounced weathering. The weapons (air-to-air missiles and bombs alike) can be hung on the underwing pylons for an armed form.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
