A kit of the present-day F-35A Lightning II combat aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Mistercraft. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended for a classic build from plastic parts.
The F-35A is a single-engine single-seat combat aircraft with a design aimed at reducing its radar signature. The A version is the configuration with a conventional takeoff and landing from a concrete runway, that is, the most widespread variant of the family. The basic armament is carried in internal weapons bays, so that the clean shape of the airframe is preserved, while for missions with lower demands on low observability external pylons can be used as well. The aircraft is built as a multirole machine: it manages attacks on ground targets, air combat and the collection and sharing of information between machines. It is produced in large series and a number of countries use it, including European operators.
A model of a modern aircraft stands or falls with the cleanliness of the surface, so give attention to sanding the seams in such a way that the engraved lines are preserved. Glue the plastic with a thin cement for polystyrene. The typical gray coat with differing shades of the individual panels is best done by applying the basic shade and then finely lightening or darkening selected panels; the effect must be visible only from close up. Mask the cockpit glazing and fit it at the end. Apply the decals on a gloss varnish, and at the end even the surface out with a matte varnish. Work with the patina very sparingly, as on machines of this type in service the wear is not very pronounced.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
