The glazing mask F-4 C/D Phantom II in 1:72 scale from Dead Design is a pre-cut self-adhesive set that covers the glass of the tandem cabin and leaves the frame free.
Responsibility details are not available.
A self-adhesive pre-cut set of masks for the frame of the cabin. The segments are stuck directly onto the clear molding. The frame is then sprayed with an airbrush in the color of the airframe and once it has dried the mask is removed; the glazing under it stays clear and needs no retouching.
The F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat twin-engine multirole aircraft with a tandem layout of the cabin. The F-4C and F-4D versions served with the US Air Force. On this type the glazing has several separate parts and the frame is intricate, so masking pays off even where tape would otherwise do.
In 1:72 the frame is only a few tenths of a millimeter wide and even a small shift is visible on a finished model as an unevenly wide line. A mask can be saved, though: as long as you have only laid it down and not pressed it, it can be lifted again with tweezers and settled. Proceed in two steps, therefore - first lay the part down dry, align it according to the engraved outline of the frame and check both sides against the light, and only then press it down from the center toward the edges. Do not touch the adhesive side with your fingers; grease from the skin is the most frequent reason why a mask no longer holds after a second laying down.
