F-4B Phantom II electronic bay is a resin detail set of the electronics bay for a model of the F-4B aircraft in 1:72 from the manufacturer Aires. It is not a model of an airplane but an accessory for a kit you already own.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the simplified plastic electronics compartment with a precisely cast resin part. It holds castings of the inner equipment of the bay as well as of the relevant covers, which can be opened on a model to show the inner arrangement of the real subject. This is not a kit of an airplane: the set serves purely as an accessory for a model of the F-4B in 1:72.
Avionics compartments are among the most rewarding details on models of fighters. The resin castings capture the fine modeling of the instrument blocks, the wiring and the supporting frames, which injected plastic cannot manage in a small scale. An open panel with the electronics visible adds to the credibility of a finished model, especially when it is displayed in a maintenance scene.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to rid them of any release agent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the surfaces; when sanding resin, protect your airways and work wet. It is glued exclusively with super glue (cyanoacrylate), as ordinary plastic cement will not join resin. Before gluing it in, fit the part dry as a trial and if need be adjust the opening in the plastic. The interior comes out best with a light base, a dark wash into the recesses and a fine dry brush.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
