This item from MH models is not a kit of an aircraft but a separate clear part with which you replace the cockpit canopy from a plastic kit. Vacuum-formed film is markedly thinner and clearer than an injection-molded part, so the detail of the cockpit shows better through it, and it is precisely thanks to the thin wall that an open cockpit looks convincing. According to the name it is the version for an open canopy and there are two pieces in the package.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4C and F-4D Phantom II were two-seat twin-engine machines of the US Air Force, derived from the original naval Phantom. The F-4C was the first production version for the land-based air force and the F-4D brought modified avionics. Both versions had the same arrangement of the long cockpit canopy over the tandem seats, which belongs among the most conspicuous elements of the aircraft's silhouette. An open cockpit also reveals the instrument panels and the seats, so it pays to put more work into the cockpit.
First trace the outline of the part with a fine alcohol-based marker, so that it can be seen through the clear material. Cut it out with a margin and sand the rest of the film away on fine abrasive paper laid on a flat board; work in small steps and keep trying the fit on the fuselage. Then polish the surface with a compound for plastics or dip it in gloss clear varnish. Glue it only with a clear glue for clear parts that does not fog the surface - cyanoacrylate glue will cloud the part and liquid cement for plastic will attack it. Mask the frames with narrow tape, spray the color of the interior first and only then the external camouflage. Treat the second piece in the package as a spare in case the first attempt does not come off.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
