Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the national insignia and the technical lettering. The markings are sprayed through the mask straight onto the finish of a model. A layer of color without a transparent carrier film thereby arises, which cannot shine or come away at the edges. It is based on the dimensions of the Fine Molds, Fujimi, Hasegawa or Italeri kits.
The F-4E belonged among the widespread late versions of the Phantom with a built-in cannon, the F-4EJ was the form for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the F-4G served for the suppression of ground air defenses. The markings of these machines shifted during their service from striking colored insignia to less conspicuous, muted forms.
The greatest practical advantage of sprayed markings shows only after they are finished. A sprayed insignia is a part of the finish, so it will take a dry brush, a wash running into engraved lines and dusting with pigment, and under careful sanding it does not peel off in one piece as a decal does. The model can be clear coated with a flat or satin finish without worry. When you want muted markings, you do not have to hunt for a different set of decals: it is enough to mix the paint closer to the shade of the camouflage or to spray the insignia more translucently in several very thin coats, and you thus control the intensity yourself.
