This is not an airplane kit but an aftermarket detail set from the Czech maker Aires. The package contains resin cockpit parts for a model of the Republic F-84G Thunderjet fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale. In kits of this scale the cockpit is usually only suggested; the set replaces it with a casting that has crisply raised detail on the sidewalls, the seat and the instrument panel.
The Republic F-84 Thunderjet was an American straight-wing jet fighter-bomber designed in the second half of the 1940s. The F-84G was the most numerous production variant of the straight-wing family, had a more powerful engine and was equipped for in-flight refueling. It served with the US Air Force and with a number of allied countries and became one of the typical machines of the air forces of the 1950s.
Fitting a resin cockpit usually calls for sanding away the original plastic cockpit floor and repeated dry-fitting until the part seats without forcing the fuselage halves apart. Wash the castings first in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the resin with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the interior and pick it out with a dark wash before you close the fuselage: after that there is no way back in.
The set is supplied as unpainted resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
