A detail set for the canopy frame of the F-86A Sabre 1:72 refines the framing of the sliding canopy, which is the most visible part of the finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory of the Clear Prop Models brand refines the frame of the sliding cabin canopy of the early Sabre. It replaces the coarser production rendition and adds the inner structure that is visible under the clear part. On its own it forms no kit at all, it belongs to the completion of a model already obtained in the same scale.
On a jet fighter the cabin is the most watched place on the whole model. Production plastic frames tend to be thicker in 1:72 than reality warrants, and as soon as the canopy is slid into the open position, both the thickness and the missing inner stiffeners catch the eye. The early Sabres of the A series had a canopy sliding to the rear, with a metal frame and mirrors, so the difference between a coarse and a fine rendition is discernible even under clear plastic.
Rinse and degrease the castings so that the paint holds. Separate the thin frames with a sharp scalpel, not with nippers. Spray the inner surfaces in the shade of the cabin before you glue the whole together, and unify the outer side with the color of the fuselage. To attach them to the clear part use a glue intended for transparent parts, or a minimum of cyanoacrylate away from the glazed areas, so that the material does not cloud over. A dry brush on the edges will bring out the structure of the frame at the end.
The set contains the unpainted parts themselves, without paints and glue, unless stated otherwise.
