An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Hobby Boss. It is the Easy Assembly form with a reduced number of parts and a simplified build, where the fuselage and the wing are formed by large parts. The package contains clear plastic for the canopy glazing and decals. Thanks to its rugged construction the model is ideal as a quick building project.
The F4F Wildcat was the main carrier fighter of the US Navy at the beginning of the war in the Pacific. The F4F-3 version had fixed, non-folding wings and the armament was formed by four heavy machine guns. The Wildcats bore the brunt of the fighting in the first months after Pearl Harbor and made their name in the battles of Midway and Guadalcanal, where thanks to their sturdy construction and tactics they stood up to the more agile Japanese Zeros.
Use thin cement for plastic; thanks to the large parts the build goes quickly and reliably. Finish and paint the cockpit before closing it. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush or with a brush. For the early schemes a blue-gray upper surface with a light underside is suitable; a discreet highlighting of the panel lines will add depth to the model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
