F4U-1 Corsair engine cowling flaps is a resin cowling flap set for a 1:72 Vought F4U-1 Corsair model from Quickboost (Aires).
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of precisely cast cowling flaps for building the American Vought F4U-1 Corsair carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a resin accessory that replaces the parts from the plastic kit with thinner and more faithful pieces, including the option of open flaps. It is made by Quickboost, a brand of the Aires company.
The Vought F4U-1 Corsair was an American carrier fighter of the Second World War with a powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine and a characteristic inverted gull wing. The cooling flaps around the engine were set according to the flight regime and were often left open on parked machines. Faithful cowling flaps therefore liven up a model considerably.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces, then bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A darker shade and a fine wash will bring out the inner faces of the flaps. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
