An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. Eduard issues this model in several editions - in a premium edition with photo-etched parts and masks, and in a simpler edition focused on the plastic alone; take the exact edition and the contents of the boxing from the manufacturer's part number. The model captures the definitive production version F6F-5.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier fighter of the Second World War that became the backbone of the US Navy fighter force in the Pacific. It was powered by the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, and its armament consisted of 12.7 mm machine guns. Rugged and easy to handle, the Hellcat achieved an exceptionally favorable kill ratio against Japanese aircraft. The F6F-5 version was the most widespread and most developed production variant.
Assemble and paint the cockpit first, then close the fuselage. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, sand the seams down and apply a primer before painting. Lay the basic dark blue naval finish on with an airbrush, and use panel lines and a subtle wash to give it depth. If the edition contains masks, they will make spraying the canopy glazing easier.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
