A set of turned metal barrels, MASTER 1:72 F6F Hellcat - early armament (.50 Browning with perforated jackets), replaces the plastic machine gun barrels and gives a model faithful detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal detail set, not a model of an aircraft. It replaces the plastic barrels of the .50 Browning machine guns with their perforated (drilled) cooling jackets as the early Hellcats carried them. Intended for models in 1:72 scale.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier fighter that from 1943 dominated the air battles over the Pacific. In its wings it carried six .50 caliber (12.7 mm) Browning heavy machine guns, three in each half. Early machines had barrel cooling jackets with drilled holes, and that perforation is a prominent recognition feature on a faithful model. The fine structure of those jackets is exactly what is hard to reproduce in plastic.
Cut the plastic barrels off the model and glue the metal parts in with cyanoacrylate onto degreased surfaces. Turned metal ensures a straight axis and a sharp muzzle, which thin plastic in this scale usually cannot manage. Before painting, go over the metal with a base coat (a primer) for better adhesion; the barrels can then be picked out lightly with a fine metallic shade.
This is not a complete model. The set does not contain glue, paints or a kit.
