1:72 F/A-18A Hornet, R.A.A.F. No. 75 Squadron Special Painting is an injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat version of the Hornet from Hasegawa, issued in a boxing with the special scheme of a Royal Australian Air Force machine.

The boxing focuses on a machine of No. 75 Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force in a special scheme markedly different from the usual gray camouflage. The F/A-18A is the single-seat basic version of the Hornet, a carrier-based multirole aircraft with air intakes set away from the fuselage and a pair of canted vertical tails. It is powered by two General Electric F404 jet engines with afterburners. Australia brought Hornets into service in the 1980s and operated them in the single-seat A version as well as the two-seat B; No. 75 Squadron was among their users. Special schemes appeared on these machines for unit anniversaries and during exercises.
In 1:72 scale the Hornet is a model of reasonable size, and it pays to give attention to the accurate fit of the air intakes and to the seams at the wing. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage; mask the clear canopy and fit it only after painting. A colorful special scheme calls for a smooth and uniform surface: spray a primer, polish the areas with fine paper and only then paint. Apply a gloss clear coat under the decals and, once dry, blend the model with a final clear coat. Work the large decals over edges and seams with a decal softener so that they pull down onto the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
