An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat version of the American carrier-borne multirole aircraft F/A-18D Hornet in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The model has engraved panel lines, a cockpit with instrument panels and figures and a clear two-piece canopy that can be built either open or closed. The package holds waterslide decals for two marking options.
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is an American twin-engine carrier-borne fighter and attack aircraft. The two-seat D version serves above all as a machine for night and precision strikes, with the rear crew member working the sensors and the fire control; besides training it was therefore fielded in full by the US Navy and by the Marine Corps as well. The Hornet is marked out by its pair of canted vertical tails and by a wide range of external stores.
Use a thin cement for plastic and finish the cockpit with both seats before closing the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting and lay the colors on with an airbrush; naval machines typically wear shades of gray with pronounced service wear and staining. Mask the clear canopy and fit it only at the end of the build. Finish the stores and the weapons separately and glue them on last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
