An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-based fighter Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet from Italeri in 1:72 scale. The letter E marks the single-seat version with one seat (the two-seat version carries the letter F). The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents of the box follow the enclosed instructions.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet is the enlarged and modernized version of the famous Hornet, operated from the decks of US Navy aircraft carriers. The single-seat variant carries out both fighter and strike tasks, with the pilot handling the weapons and the sensors alone. Compared with the older Hornet the aircraft has greater range, greater load and more pylons, so it can carry a wide range of weapons and drop tanks.
Finish the cockpit and spray it before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing and paint it separately. The typical low-visibility gray of the US Navy is made up of several shades, so an airbrush and a fine differentiation of the panels pay off. You can complete the weathered naval look with a panel line wash, fading of the surfaces and discreet traces of service; fit the pylons and the armament only at the end.
