The Soviet GAZ-66B 4x4 truck for airborne forces in 1:72 scale is a plastic kit from the ACE brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Soviet GAZ-66B truck with drive to all wheels and a payload of 2 tons, in the version for airborne units. The 1:72 scale saves space in a display case and suits models of aircraft and smaller dioramas alike. The finished vehicle is small, so the cleanliness of the gluing and the fineness of the paintwork matter all the more.
The GAZ-66 is a medium truck with a cab-over-engine layout and drive to all wheels, which became one of the most widespread off-road vehicles of its category. The version with the B suffix was adapted for airborne units, where the outline of the vehicle had to be reduced for carriage by aircraft and for airdrop. The modifications concerned above all the upper part of the cab and the equipment of the vehicle. The other features of the type, the short front overhang and high off-road mobility, were retained.
In a smaller scale it pays to try everything dry first and only then to glue - cleaning up glue that has run is a thankless job on small parts. Separate the parts with a sharp cutter and sand the parting lines with fine abrasive paper. Apply the primer in a thin coat, or the fine texture of the surface will be lost. When painting, stay with thin coats from an airbrush, choose a thin wash and use less pigment than you would in 1:35 scale. Glue the cab glazing on only after the painting and mask it in advance.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
