The Dordrecht 1940 figure set in 1:72 scale brings German paratroopers and Dutch prisoners together into one legible scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item is intended for a diorama scene, not for a cabinet on its own. It brings together two groups of figures between which a relationship is apparent, so the scene tells a story even without hardware around it. The label in the name refers to the Dutch town of Dordrecht and to May 1940.
Dordrecht lies on an island in the river delta south of Rotterdam. In the middle of May 1940 fighting connected with airborne landings took place at the local bridges and railway crossing, the aim of which was to hold the crossings over the waterways until the ground forces arrived. The setting is low-lying and watery: dikes, canals, brick houses with tall gables and straight roads lined with rows of trees. The scene can be built even on a narrow base, because the terrain itself is flat and the action concentrates on the road.
First clean the figures of flash and check the mating surfaces of the feet. Apply the paint in thin coats, otherwise the engraving of the folds will disappear. To set the two groups apart, use a different overall tone: one side a cooler green-gray, the other a warmer khaki. A difference in shade will do more for the legibility of the scene than the most carefully executed buttons and clasps.
Data on the number of figures and on the material they are cast from are not contained in the name of the item, so they are not stated here either.
