The A-8 was built in greater numbers than any other variant of the type. It brought a relocated rack under the fuselage, room for an auxiliary tank behind the pilot and the mounting provision for all kinds of sets, from a pair of cannons in wing gondolas to launch tubes for rockets. It was out of the A-8 that heavily armored machines for attacks on bomber formations were made.
The most interesting piece of interior on this machine does not lie in the middle but on the left side. On the side panel are concentrated the throttle with the so-called Kommandogerät, the engine control unit, the controls for the landing gear, the flaps and the tanks, and a bundle of rods runs between them along the wall. Through the glazing the upper half of that panel is visible, and with the model tilted its front end as well.
The side panel is dark and busy, whereas the frame of the glazing above it forms a straight long line. If that line is left in bare plastic, it becomes the lightest element in the whole opening and the panel below it disappears against the light. A reverse mask makes it possible to unify the frame with the interior, so the view deepens and the controls become legible.
Many builders take particular care over this variant precisely because the most is visible in it. On the later machines the armored headrest behind the pilot's head has a glazed frame, so the view from the side does not stop at a solid plate and carries on further back. But the longer such a view is, the more frames lie on the way, and the sooner a neglected inner side shows.
