This injection-molded plastic kit from the maker Hobby Boss captures the German heavy self-propelled mortar Karl-Gerät in the configuration loaded onto its special railway transport carrier in 1:72 scale. It is an extensive package with a large number of parts, a section of track and the transport car. The model is assembled and painted.
The Karl-Gerät was one of the largest self-propelled siege guns of the Second World War. Because of its enormous weight it was transported over long distances by rail: the chassis of the gun was suspended between a pair of massive pivoting arms carried on the multi-axle bogies of the carrier. On site the gun was lowered from the carrier, driven to its firing position and prepared to fire. It served to destroy heavily fortified targets.
With a build as extensive as this it pays to work by sub-assembly and to let the large joints cure properly. Finish and paint the running gear and the details before you close the large covers up. Use liquid cement on the plastic, and washes and pigments for mud and dust effects suit the weathering. We recommend a primer and spraying with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
