An injection-molded plastic model of the German twin-engined transport aircraft Gotha Go 244B-1 in 1:72 scale from IBG models. Unlike the unpowered Go 242 glider, this is a fully powered machine driven by a pair of radial engines. Plastic parts and decals for Luftwaffe color schemes are part of the package.
The Go 244 was created as the powered version of the successful Gotha Go 242 transport glider. By adding two radial engines and a modified landing gear the aircraft gained the ability to take off on its own, with no need to be towed. It served to carry troops and cargo, had a roomy fuselage with rear loading doors and was used above all in the Mediterranean and Eastern theaters. Because of its limited performance and vulnerability its service was rather short, yet it remains an interesting chapter of German transport aviation.
Given the dimensions of the fuselage and the wing span we recommend building in sections and careful dry-fitting before gluing. It pays to paint the interior of the cargo compartment and pick out its detail before the fuselage is closed up. Work with liquid cement for plastic and spray the extensive surfaces with an airbrush; bring out the typical German transport camouflage by sketching the transitions in advance and with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
