The photo-etched set Eduard 1:72 Grumman TBM-3 Avenger bomb bay covers the inside of the bomb bay of the carrier torpedo bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
The weapons space inside the fuselage is so large on this aircraft that once the doors are open it makes up a visually crucial part of the model. The photo-etched parts add ribbing, stiffeners, hinges and thin doors to the walls, and in plastic those come out disproportionately thick. You are buying a metal sheet; the plastic model of the aircraft goes with it separately. This is the kind of set where the extra work shows at first glance.
A torpedo was long and heavy and hung under the fuselage it would have raised drag considerably. The designers therefore hid it inside the fuselage, where a matching load of bombs also fitted. A closed bay at the same time protected the ordnance from impacts during a hard landing on deck. It was this solution that gave the aircraft its characteristically bulky fuselage, after whose shape crews nicknamed it.
Assemble and paint the inside before the fuselage halves are joined, otherwise you will not get into the bay. Leave the doors until the end and try them dry, so that they sit in the cutout. Pick out the corners between the stiffeners with a flowing wash, because shadow inside the bay deepens the impression of the space more than the most careful spraying.
