A set of self-adhesive die-cut masks, Peewit 1:72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, for masking the glazed areas of the cockpit during spraying. It is not a kit but a modeling accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit intended for a model of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit and not a replacement part but an accessory for the build: the precisely shaped pieces cover the glass of the canopy during spraying, so the framing of the cockpit comes out sharp, even and with no paint bleeding under the edge.
The masks are cut from thin low-tack kabuki-type masking tape. The tape adapts well to the curve of the canopy, holds even on small areas and as a rule leaves no glue residue once taken off. The individual shapes are lifted off the backing paper with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and stuck onto a clean, degreased and dry part.
The Hurricane has a heavily framed, multi-part canopy with a prominent armored windscreen. Drawing such framing out by hand with a brush in 1:72 scale is lengthy and seldom comes out straight. With a mask it is enough to spray the canopy in the same color as the fuselage, so the frames match the surrounding camouflage exactly in shade.
Press the mask down with a wooden toothpick all round, and if need be seal the edges with a thin coat of clear varnish, so that the paint does not seep in. Spray in several light coats, first the interior shade, then the external camouflage. Remove the mask as soon as the paint has set, pulling at an angle rather than straight up from the surface.
The package contains only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
