A set of replacement wheels for the Heinkel He 162A model in 1:72 scale. It replaces the kit wheels, which are clearly visible on the finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
On an aircraft model the wheels are among the few things the viewer sees up close and from below. At the same time they are the parts on which the age of the mold shows most in a kit: the tread pattern tends to be soft and the wheel hub indistinct. This set is listed as an accessory for the Heinkel He 162A model in 1:72 scale and serves to replace the wheels with more accurate parts.
The He 162A was a German single-engine jet fighter from the last year of the Second World War. Its engine was mounted on top of the fuselage spine, the tail ended in a pair of vertical fins and the landing gear retracted into the fuselage, with a nose wheel at the front. A considerable part of the airframe was made of wood, because metal was in short supply and the machine was to be built quickly and in large numbers.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder so that the outline is not lost. The parts are not made of polystyrene, so cement for plastic models does not work on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Wash the wheels in lukewarm water and degrease them before painting, otherwise the paint will not take on the surface. If a flat spot from the weight of the aircraft is molded on the tire, it belongs at the bottom, toward the ground. The exact procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
